Follow the steps below to set it up quickly and securely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>STEP 1 &#8211; CREATE AND SET UP YOUR DROPBOX ACCOUNT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the homepage of <strong>Dropbox.com<\/strong>, select the <strong>Sign Up<\/strong> tab from the banner at the top of the website. Enter your credentials, click <strong>Create an Account<\/strong>, then choose the Dropbox plan that best fits your storage and budget needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dropbox will ask a few questions to personalize your experience, then take you to the Download page. Select <strong>Download Dropbox<\/strong> to begin the application\u2019s installation process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>STEP 2 &#8211; CONNECT TO SQL SERVER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open <strong>SQL Backup Master<\/strong> and click on <strong>Backups<\/strong> in the navigation center, then click the <strong>New Backup<\/strong> button. The <strong>Database Backup Editor<\/strong> window will appear. Common examples include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>(local)\\SQLExpress<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Specifies the default SQL Express named instance on the local computer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>(local)<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Specifies the local SQL Server installation without an instance name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Server1\\SQLExpress<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Specifies the default SQL Express named instance on a remote computer named \u201cServer1.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Server1<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Specifies an unnamed SQL Server instance on a remote computer named \u201cServer1.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TIP<\/strong>: Another way to locate local and remote SQL Server instances is by using the drop-down arrow in the <strong>Server Name<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click the <strong>Test SQL Connection<\/strong> button to confirm your connection, then hit <strong>OK<\/strong>. Click the <strong>Save<\/strong> button in the bottom-left of the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A window labeled <strong>Windows user account configuration notice<\/strong> will appear. Click <strong>Yes<\/strong> to proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the box marked <strong>Run Backup with a Specific Windows Account<\/strong> and then enter your authentication credentials (you should generally only need to enter this information once per backup).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>STEP 3 &#8211; SELECT DESIRED DATABASES TO BACK UP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After connecting to a SQL Server instance, the <strong>Database Backup Editor<\/strong> window will list available databases in the left-most column, labeled <strong>Source<\/strong>. Select the databases you want to back up as part of this job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TIP<\/strong>: You can also check the box labeled <strong>Back up all Non-System Databases<\/strong>, enabling the automatic backup of all new databases created on the target SQL server in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>STEP 4: ADD A DROPBOX BACKUP DESTINATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the <strong>Add<\/strong> button under the window header labeled <strong>Destinations<\/strong>. This will bring up a window displaying all possible backup destinations for your SQL database:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sqlbackupmaster.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Blog1DestiDropbox.png\" alt=\"Selecting Dropbox as a backup destination\" class=\"wp-image-492\" width=\"484\" height=\"487\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Double-click the selection box labeled <strong>Dropbox<\/strong> (or click once, then press the <strong>Select<\/strong> button) to choose Dropbox as your backup destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Dropbox Destination Settings<\/strong> window will appear. Use the <strong>Test<\/strong> button in the bottom-left corner of the <strong>Dropbox Destination Settings<\/strong> window to confirm a successful connection, then select <strong>OK<\/strong>. Finally, click <strong>OK<\/strong> in the main window to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back at the bottom-right corner of the <strong>Database Backup Editor<\/strong> window, click on the <strong>Save<\/strong> icon to finalize your Dropbox backup destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP 5 &#8211; RUN THE BACKUP JOB<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Return to the main window in SQL Backup Master, select your newly created backup job, and hit <strong>Back up now<\/strong> to begin backing up your databases to Dropbox. If the backup job does not complete successfully, consult the log file for more details on any errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the backup job doesn\u2019t complete successfully, review the application log file for error details or additional troubleshooting information.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>That\u2019s it!<\/strong> You are now backing up your SQL database to Dropbox.
