The SQL Backup Master main window separates the majority of the product's feature into three tabs.


Backup and Restore - Provides backup job management (create, edit, delete) tools, backup log viewing, and more.

Tools and Utilities - Used for update checking, license management, and more.

Help - Provides information to help you make the best of SQL Backup Master


You can get started with SQL Backup Master by selecting the Backup and restore tab and clicking the Create Database Backup button. The backup job editor screen will appear.


Backup Job Listing


The Backup and restore tab of the SQL Backup Master main window lists existing database backup jobs. Each entry in the backup job listing exposes several fields:


Status - Shows the status of the backup job, based upon the last time (if ever) it was executed.

Summary - A brief summary of the data being backed up by this job.

Last Run - The date and time the job was last executed (if ever).

Next Run - Indicates when the next backup will occur, if one is scheduled.

Schedule - A brief summary of the job's execute schedule (if one is defined).

Description - The description specified by the user in the backup job editor window.


To edit an existing backup job, double-click it within the list or right-click it and choose Edit settings.


Several buttons are also available for each backup job:


To trigger an immediate full backup of an existing job, click the Back up now button associated with the list entry.

Click the Recover button to initiate an assisted database recovery.

Use the Actions button associated with a backup job list entry to view the associated backup log, edit the backup job settings, duplicate the backup job, delete the backup job, or run a differential backup.


Backup and Restore Toolbar


The toolbar on the Backup and restore tab offers the following functions:


New Backup - Launches the backup job editor, allowing you to create a new backup job.

Recovery - Explore and manage (or recover) existing database backups.

View Logs - View and filter database backup log entries.

Run All - Starts all defined backup jobs immediately.

Stop All - Stops all defined backup jobs.

Sorting - Allows you to sort the backup job listing by one of several fields.

Filtering - Used to filter the current backup job listing.

Expand All - Expands all entries in the backup job listing

Collapse All - Collapses all entries in the backup job listing
