BACK UP SQL TO IDRIVE E2
SQL Backup Master can be configured to back up your Microsoft SQL Server databases to IDrive e2, an S3-compatible object storage service.
IDrive, a long-trusted name in the cloud backup industry, offers an S3-compatible object storage service called IDrive e2. This service is engineered for high performance and durability at an extremely competitive price point, making it an excellent destination for your SQL Server backups. Because it's fully S3-compatible, you can use SQL Backup Master's flexible S3 destination to send your backups directly to your e2 account.
Getting connected is a simple process. From your IDrive e2 web console, you will need to generate a new set of access keys. These keys provide the credentials that SQL Backup Master will use to securely connect to your storage. The mapping is straightforward:
- The Access Key ID provided by e2 goes into the "Access Key" field.
- The Secret Access Key provided by e2 goes into the "Secret Key" field.
You must also provide the regional endpoint URL for your storage, which you can find in the e2 console. This URL should be entered into the "Service URL" field within SQL Backup Master, as shown in the screenshot. Choosing a provider like IDrive e2 is an excellent strategy for cost optimization, as they typically do not charge for data egress (downloads), making database restores much more affordable. Once configured, you can schedule your SQL backups to run automatically, creating a robust and economical off-site data protection plan.
